Programs for upscaling, noise reduction or frame interpolation work best on a source with no compression flaws. CineForm loses very little, but it does lose something. On computers with an NVIDIA graphics card, the converter can write a file in which every frame is stored exactly.
- Set the look of the clip as you want it in the result.
- In Format, choose H.264 / HEVC video (MOV).
- In Quality, choose Lossless. The item is there only with an NVIDIA card.
- In Codec: HEVC · 10-bit keeps 10 bits per color, H.264 · 8-bit keeps 8. Not every program opens lossless H.264 and HEVC, so convert a short clip first and check that yours does.
- The processing program works more easily when every frame is complete, so set Keyframes to Every frame (for editing).
Such a file is many times larger than an ordinary one. Process it, export the result in the codec you need, and delete the lossless file when you are done with it.
