Infinity Focus Mode

This mode is for those units in which focusing to infinity does not work when the wheel control is moved to the highest position. That is, distant objects in the image are not in focus.

You should pay attention here so that the upper limit of the wheel control is not set.

Activating this mode will cause the official upper limit to be cleared and set to 0.0 or the value previously saved by the user, as the focus value at infinity. This takes the focus to a level that is outside of the official manual focus limits. In this way it is possible to adjust the focus to infinity.

Deactivating this mode resets the manual focus to the official limits.

This mode should be perceived only as a "duct tape" for those devices, which manufacturer did not take care to specify correct manual focus limits so that they coincide with the capabilities of automatic focus.

1.2.3.6.1. Instructions for the most convenient mode setting

  1. Turn on the normal manual focus mode.
  2. Make sure that all the focus limits are off. Other words the up and down arrows are not illuminated in orange.

  1. Open the focus settings menu and set the gamma curve to 0.3. This will make the slower change in the upper positions than in the lower positions.

  1. Move the wheel control as close as possible to the upper limit, but not to the maximum.

  1. Long tap the arrow down to define the selected position as the lower limit, the arrow should light up in orange and a message will appear at the bottom of the screen stating that the lower limit has been set. Now we have the entire controller running from near the upper limit to 0.0. That is, we have the ability to adjust the focus to infinity as accurately as possible.

  1. We turn on the infinity focus mode and use the adjuster ring to select the position that gives maximum sharpness to the furthest objects.
  2. Once we have chosen the position which gives maximum sharpness to the furthest objects, we need to save it. To do this we open the focus adjustment menu and at the very bottom of the window that opens we click on the floppy disk icon. The system will ask if we want to overwrite the old value.

  1. After confirming in the infinity focus mode, the upper limit will be the value we just saved.
  2. You can remove the lower limit and check how the infinity focus works.
